Several Astral TVPlus acquisitions nominated at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards!

This morning, the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations were announced – by Jimmy Kimmel in his pajamas – and many of this fall’s acquisition from Astral TVPlus’ specialty networks got the honors!


The series Boardwalk Empire, which will air on Historia this fall, got away with 12 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series as well as several technical nominations for makeup, hairstyle, costumes and special effects.


The Big Bang Theory, which will be presented on VRAK TV this fall, got 5 nominations including Outstanding Comedy, Outstanding Comedy Series et Outstanding Actor (and Actress) in a Comedy Series. This is Jim Parsons’ third consecutive nominations – and third potential win – for the young actor. He won the Emmy Award in 2010 and 2011for his role has Sheldon on the hit series.


Last season’s NBC hit Smash got a total of 4 nominations, mostly for technical achievements in music and choreography. Fans of musicals in Quebec will be delighted to watch the French version of the hit series on MusiMax this upcoming fall. Also broadcasted on MusiMax for several seasons now, Dancing with the stars (La danse des étoiles) got 7 nominations including Outstanding Choreography and  Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.


In the Outstanding Children’s Program category,several titles from both Family and VRAK TV got nominated: Good Luck Charlie, iCarly, Victorious (which also got 2 other nominations) and Wizards of Waverly Place. The Outstanding Short-format Animated Program category mainly includes shows that will be presented on TÉLÉTOON this fall, like Regular Show and Adventure Time.


Séries+ and Ztélé also got titles nominated for an Emmy:



Viewers will have to wait for September 23 to know who the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards winners will be (on ABC).
