With iPlayer, BBC Is Shaping The Future Of Television

Earlier this week, the BBC launched a new version of its widely popular iPlayer app for Internet-connected TVs. Netizens who’ve gladly taken a liking in the interactivity, social networking, TV on-demand features, email, weather reports and everything else that a “normal” TV can’t offer. With the iPlayer app for connected-TV, the BBC is taking TV viewers into a “radically overhauled user experience”, making TV watching less passive.

The new iPlayer app for TVs makes it easier to navigate the web. Viewers have the ability to flip channels between the various BBC offerings for TV and radio, the option to narrow content down by category or featured content, and built a list of favorites. There is also a multitasking option that allows viewers to browse to other content while watching a show they’ve already selected.
