Rolling Stone: Stories From The Edge

Directed by multiple award-winners Alex Gibney and Blair Foster, this two-part, four-hour documentary event chronicles the last 50 years of American music, politics and popular culture through the story of Rolling Stone, the publication co-founded in November 1967 by Jann Wenner and Ralph J. Gleason. From the beginning, Wenner, Gleason and their eclectic staff understood that rock ‘n’ roll is more than music – it’s a cultural force that has played a huge role in shaping America and defining generations. Drawing on previously unheard recordings provided by some of Rolling Stone’s greatest writers, as well as recent interviews, rare photos and footage, the special takes an inside look at how the magazine helped define the zeitgeist and has endured for a half-century. The film includes recent candid footage with the magazine’s co-founder and publisher, Jann Wenner; interviews with top writers and photographers including Cameron Crowe and Annie Leibovitz; and recent and archival insights by many of the musicians and newsmakers who were profiled and/or reviewed by the magazine through the years.
