TORONTO (February 6, 2019) – As seen on the Season 2 premiere of CTV’s THE LAUNCH, indie-pop/rock artist T. Thomason from Halifax, N.S, was chosen by world-renowned music executive and CEO/Founder of Big Machine Label Group Scott Borchetta, Québec pop icon Marie-Mai, celebrity mentor Sarah McLachlan, and music producer Alex Hope to record the new original single “Hope”. The second single from the smash-hit music series was released to radio stations across the country immediately following tonight’s broadcast. The song is also available now on music services everywhere. Encore presentations of THE LAUNCH air Saturdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and Sundays at 11 a.m. ET on Much (visit CTV.ca and Much.com to confirm local listings).

“It’s like a dream,” said T. Thomason. “It’s my dream. Happening in real time.”

The mentors were impressed with T.’s edgy style and ability to tell a story with his music. After divulging he wasn’t sure he would be able to sing following testosterone treatments while transitioning, the mentors were even more impressed with his tenacity and the dedication to his craft. His determination on stage and confidence in front of the mentors impressed the entire panel. Following the audition process with all five emerging artists – T. Thomason, Trevor LaRose, Avery Florence, Phé, and Alexandra Porat – the mentors chose T. and Trevor LaRose as the two artists to record and perform their own versions of “Hope” in front of a live studio audience. After a nerve-wracking 48 hours in studio rehearsals, recordings, and working closely with the shows mentors on their performances, both artists were nervous as they stepped on stage. While Trevor gave a pitch-perfect pop performance, T.’s determination and connection to the song made the mentors lean toward launching him. Both Marie-Mai and Sarah McLachlan were visibly emotional as he finished his performance. After deliberations, T. was chosen to have his version of “Hope” launched across Canada and to the world via THE LAUNCH’s expansive slate of top music partners. Following tonight’s song launch, Bell Media is poised to throw the full weight of its marketing, promotional, and publicity support behind T. Thomason’s “Hope” across its national footprint of broadcast and digital entertainment properties. “Hope” is written by Jocelyn Alice Strang, Bobby Campbell, Jim Bell, and T. Thomason and produced by Alex Hope. Label: Big Machine Canada. Executive Producers are Scott Borchetta and Randy Lennox. **MEDIA NOTE**
