Astral Out-of-Home Reveals Carte Blanche for Creatives Competition Toronto Market Winners

TORONTO (May 1, 2014) – As announced last night at an award ceremony in Toronto, Astral Out-of-Home has named the “Mark’s Thermometer” campaign, submitted by Sidlee’s Barbato Martiniello and Emma Quiroz, as the 2014 Grand Prize Winner of the Carte Blanche for Creatives competition.

“All the submissions were very clever and demonstrated immense imagination, however the Mark’s Thermometer campaign was a real stand-out,” said Lucy Collin, Vice-President, Marketing and Innovation, Bell Media Sales. “In Toronto we received over 50% more entries than last year, truly demonstrating the growing interest in Out-of-Home advertising with the creative community.”

The winning team will be jetting off to France and attending the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. For its part, Mark’s wins a campaign on the Astral Out-of-Home Toronto Street Furniture network in Toronto.

The competition launched in late February and from April 7-9, the jury – composed of one member from each of the creative teams who submitted an entry – deliberated and voted on the winning piece. The 10 finalists were selected in advance by the creative community at

Advertising creatives from across Canada submitted a record number of campaigns with more than 225 original pieces. Carte Blanche is in its fifth year in Montréal and Toronto and its second year in Vancouver.  

The winners for the Montréal Vertical Poster edition of Carte Blanche were announced on April 29. Martin Baron and Marie-Eve Leclerc-Dion from LG2 won for their Lotto Max entry. The winners for Vancouver will be unveiled on May 8.
