TORONTO (May 9, 2014) – Bell Media’s BravoFACT (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent) and the New York Television Festival (NYTVF) announced earlier today the BravoFACT Passport Program, a first-ever partnership between BravoFACT and the NYTVF. This unique initiative bestows Official Artist status to the Producer/Director teams from two BravoFACT-funded shorts, complete with a paid trip to the festival, an exclusive opportunity for one-on-one meetings with key industry leaders, and the chance to showcase their work on an international stage. The two selected projects, dubbed “Passport Selects”, will be identified by a NYTVF screening committee in consultation with BravoFACT. The festival, taking place Oct. 20-25, 2014 in New York City, connects artists with leading networks, studios, agencies, production companies, and brands from around the world.

“The New York Television Festival is the perfect platform for our BravoFACT Canadian alumni to showcase their talent on a global scale,” said Catherine MacLeod, Senior Vice-President, Specialty Channels and Bell Media Production. “Through this partnership, our recipients are presented with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet with top-tier industry leaders from around the world.”

“We're honoured to launch this partnership with Bell Media and BravoFACT, and look forward to working with the outstanding Canadian producers that have come through the program,” said NYTVF founder Terence Gray. “As we prepare for the milestone of our tenth Festival, our primary goal is to assemble the best independent producers from around the world and we're thrilled to add the BravoFACT alums to that mix.”

Beginning May 11, BravoFACT alumni are able to submit their applications for consideration via The New York Television Festival website; submission guidelines and forms can be found here. The BravoFACT Passport Program submission deadline is July 11 at 12 p.m. ET. In addition to the two NYTVF Official Artist designations, 10 BravoFACT alumni will receive honourable mentions, including passes to NYTVF where they will benefit from the extensive networking, pitching, and business opportunities available at the festival.
