BravoFACT Partners with the Toronto LGBT Film Festival for Film Pitch Competition

TORONTO (February 29, 2016) – Bell Media’s BravoFACT (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent) announced today it has partnered with Inside Out, presenter of the annual Toronto LGBT Film Festival, for the inaugural Inside Out BravoFACT Pitch Competition. Taking place Sunday, June 5 during the 2016 Toronto LGBT Film Festival (May 26 to June 5), five Canadian filmmaking teams will be given the opportunity to pitch their short to a live audience and a jury of industry experts for the chance to receive funding for their short film. At the event, BravoFACT will award a grand prize of $50,000. The winning team also receives the opportunity to premiere their film at the 2017 Toronto LGBT Film Festival and receive two festival passes. “Inside Out and the Toronto LGBT Film Festival are important voices in the industry, and BravoFACT is thrilled to amplify their message,” said Tracey Pearce, Senior Vice-President, Specialty and Pay, Bell Media. “We look forward to this partnership, and to the creative pitches that we will receive.” “After celebrating 25 years of Inside Out in 2015, nothing feels more appropriate than kicking off 2016 with the introduction of the Inside Out BravoFACT Pitch Competition,” said Andrew Murphy, Inside Out’s Director of Programming. “The competition continues Inside Out’s commitment to challenging attitudes and changing lives, to provide opportunities for Canadian LGBT filmmakers to reflect on our communities and share their stories with us all.” Beginning today, candidates can visit to apply. The deadline to submit is Friday, April 1. The five teams selected to pitch their short at the competition will be notified on Monday, May 2. Applicants are also welcome to submit the same pitch for a BravoFACT award but note winners are not eligible for double funding. Deadline to submit to BravoFACT is May 26.
