C100 Unhooks Sixth Annual BRAS ACROSS THE BRIDGE Campaign, This Weekend

HALIFAX(September 18, 2014)Thisweekend,C100 ison a mission to collect bras from residents across Nova Scotia. For every bradonated to the 6th Annual BRAS ACROSS THEBRIDGE campaign,C100 partners Samuel and Co., Frank Lyman Designs, and Harvest Wines and Spiritswill collectively donate a dollar to TEAM MOYA, C100’s team participating inthe 2014 CIBC Run for theCure, anational charity run that raises funds to support research, education, andadvocacy for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The Halifax radio station aims to collect 10,000 brasin support of this annual charitable initiative.

BeginningSaturday, Sept. 20 at 9 a.m., staff members anddedicated volunteers from C100 and Halifax Harbour Bridges willgather on the MacDonald Bridge with a common goal: string every donated bra upon the bridge by the end of the day in a very unique and fun demonstration ofsupport for women battling breast cancer, survivors, and to remember those whohave lost their battle with the disease. The bras will remain on the bridge infull view of Haligonians until tear down begins at noon on Sunday, Sept. 21.Media are encouraged to attend at any point throughout the event. 

Bras can be droppedoff prior to noon on Friday, Sept. 19 atparticipating Samuel & Co. locations, Parklane Mall, and the HalifaxShopping Centre, as well as Harvest Wines inside Sobeys on Baker Drive inDartmouth. For those unable to donate at one of the designated locations priorto the deadline, bras will also be accepted on the MacDonald Bridge during theevent.

Listeners can alsosupport the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation by purchasing a paper bra for$2.00 at Samuel & Co and Harvest Wines and Spirits locations outlined above.All proceeds from the sale of paper bras will be donated to support the effortsof TEAM MOYA, participating in the 2014 CIBC Run for the Cure.

Last year, more than10,000 bras were collected in every shape and colour. The epic brassiere displayspanned the 1.3 km radius in Halifax’s BRAS ACROSS THE BRIDGEevent, resulting in more than $11,000 raised is support of the CanadianBreast Cancer Foundation.
