TORONTO (March 3, 2014) – A follow-up to his cross-country adventures in Canada, explorer Charley Boorman is teaming up with his friend and producer/director, Russ Malkin, for another epic motorbike adventure. This time they are making their way through the stunning, rugged, and often surprising South Africa.  Boorman winds his way around the entire country in CHARLEY BOORMAN’S EXTREME FRONTIERS: SOUTH AFRICA premiering Wednesday, March 26 at 8 p.m. ET/ 10 p.m. PT, exclusively on Discovery World. Through the 10-part series, Boorman and Malkin journey in a circular route starting and finishing in Cape Town, experiencing the deeply-rooted cultures, the extraordinary people, and the remarkable wildlife along the way.

CHARLEY BOORMAN’S EXTREME FRONTIERS: SOUTH AFRICA – Episode 1

Wednesday, March 26 at 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

Charley Boorman is ready to take on one of the country’s most iconic landmarks – Table Mountain. With the vast Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop, Boorman dramatically opens the series by abseiling from the summit of this 1066-metre mountain. Historic Robben Island is the team’s next stop, site of the prison where Nelson Mandela was detained for 18 years. Next the team heads to the beach, learning to surf from a former big world champion. Back on the bike, Boorman heads along the coast and gets back in the water to come face-to-face with one of the world’s greatest predators, the impressive Great White Shark. Passing through the stunning landscapes of the Garden Route, Boorman shares his touching experience of staying overnight in the Masiphumelele Township.Charley Boorman is ready to take on one of the country’s most iconic landmarks – . CHARLEY BOORMAN’S EXTREME FRONTIERS: SOUTH AFRICA – Episode 2

Wednesday, April 2 at 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

Boorman and the team are stranded near the Baviaanskloof nature reserve with a broken trailer. With the wheels turning again, Boorman explores an orange farm guided by a helpful local farmer. The group makes their way up the coast to the Born Free Foundation, where they learn the stories of the rescued lions and leopards. Back on the road, Boorman survives a close shave on his bike before carrying onto a local community near Palmerton, to then learn how eRanger bikes are helping to distribute medicine to locals in need. Next, Boorman and the team discover health treatments courtesy of nature at some sulphur springs near Port St. Johns.

CHARLEY BOORMAN’S EXTREME FRONTIERS: SOUTH AFRICA – Episode 3

Wednesday, April 9 at 8 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

Just south of Durban, Boorman bonds with the locals by getting out into the surf before one of his most challenging adventures – the Sani Pass.  Leading up through the mountains towards Lesotho, Boorman tackles the treacherously steep and extremely icy path to the summit.  Once they recover from their Sani Pass adventure, Boorman and the team continue their journey learning about the historic battle at Rorke’s Drift. The episode ends close to the clouds as the team embark on the challenging trek to the top of Tugela Falls, braving the icy cold winds as they camp on the summit.
