TORONTO (April 3, 2014) – CP24 BREAKFAST WEEKEND takes the show on the road, serving up two days of on-site broadcasts live from two of Toronto’s landmark destinations. Kicking off this Saturday, April 5, CP24 BREAKFAST WEEKEND invites up-and-early Torontonians to join hosts Pooja Handa and Jamie Gutfreund as they broadcast live, including weather and traffic updates, from Toronto’s historic St. Lawrence Market. Then on Sunday, April 6, the duo helms the broadcast from Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. Throughout the weekend, fellow CP24 BREAKFAST WEEKEND host Nneka Elliott will report live from CP24’s Queen Street studio, delivering viewers the latest weekend news.
“CP24 strives to showcase the diversity and destinations that make Toronto special, and to unite with our viewers in new and exciting ways,” said Joanne MacDonald, Vice-President, CTV News and General Manager, CP24. “Broadcasting from two of the city’s premier attractions allows us to fulfill these goals, and we look forward to serving up a memorable weekend for our viewers.”
Saturday, April 5 – St. Lawrence Market
CP24 BREAKFAST WEEKEND invites viewers inside the famed Toronto landmark, located on the south side of Front Street by Lower Jarvis Street. Co-hosts Handa and Gutfreund broadcast live amongst the hustle and bustle of specialty food merchants, artisans, and customers, while speaking with some of the markets vendors and street performers.
Sunday, April 6 – Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada
CP24 BREAKFAST WEEKEND goes on an aquatic expedition, reporting live from Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, the country’s largest indoor aquarium. Handa and Gutfreund chat with shark experts and scuba divers from the recently opened attraction, while also lending a helping hand to a local Boy Scout troop rise and shine following an adventurous sleepover with the sharks.
