TORONTO (March 12, 2014) – CP24 welcomes Torontonians to celebrate its rich Irish heritage and culture by tuning into exclusive, live coverage of the 27th Annual Toronto St. Patrick’s Day Parade, beginning at 12 noon this Sunday, March 16. As the Official Parade Broadcaster, CP24’s comprehensive coverage features Lindsey Deluce hosting the broadcast from the parade alongside Hugo Straney, a popular entertainer and personality for Toronto’s Irish community.

CP24’s Pooja Handa, Bill Coulter, and Chris Potter will be on-site at the parade, serving as this year’s official Parade Judges and voting in the categories of “Best Float” and “Best Marchers” among parade participants. The winners will be announced on air following the parade.

This year’s parade features 34 marching sections and nine bands, including new additions such as dancers from the Native Canadian Centre and marchers from Scouts Canada. The 2014 parade is expected to attract a large group of out-of-town spectators, as anyone with the last name Murphy is invited to Toronto to take part in a “reunion of the Murphy Clan.” For more information, including parade routes, visit www.cp24.com.

“As the Official Broadcaster of the Toronto St. Patrick’s Day Parade for the fourth year in a row, CP24 is proud to continue the annual tradition of being welcomed into the homes of Torontonians as they join in this very special cultural celebration,” said Joanne MacDonald, Vice-President, CTV News and General Manager, CP24. “Our continued commitment to this colourful and inclusive event is a reflection of our commitment to celebrate the many diverse communities that make up the GTA.”

CP24 renewed its broadcast sponsorship with the St. Patrick’s Parade Society of Toronto earlier this year, extending its exclusive coverage rights through 2016.
