REGINA (December 31, 2017) – CTV Regina announced today that Doug and Gloria Archer are co-recipients of the 2017 Regina Citizen of the Year Award. Jeff Bollenbach, General Manager, Manitoba/Saskatchewan, Radio and Television, Bell Media, made the announcement on this evening’s edition of CTV NEWS AT SIX. The Archers will receive their award at a reception in April 2018. “For more than 40 years, Doug and Gloria Archer have embodied the spirit of service to their community,” said Bollenbach. “They have demonstrated tireless dedication to a wide variety of charity initiatives, from childhood education to arts organizations to university athletics, and in doing so, they’ve helped build a stronger Regina.” Over their decades of community service, the Archers have been key participants in the Brighter Futures for Children benefit, helping to raise over $750,000 for the SCEP Centre, an early intervention preschool program for children with complex needs, and The Regina Early Learning Centre, a child and family development centre. They have also supported sports and arts organizations including the University of Regina Cougars athletics program and the Regina Multicultural Council’s Mosaic - A Festival of Cultures. The Regina Citizen of the Year Award presented by CTV is an annual tradition now in its 14th year. Each November, CTV Regina accepts nominations from viewers for the Regina Citizen of the Year Award, and at the end of December, presents the award to an individual who exemplifies excellence in community service.
