BARRIE, Ontario (November 20, 2014) – CTV Barrie hopes to make the holidays a little brighter for local families this year by helping to build a mountain of toys. Now underway, the 11th Annual Toy Mountain Campaign, in support of The Children’s Aid Society of Simcoe County, runs through to Friday, Dec. 19. Viewers are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys, or make cash or gift card donations. Last year, CTV Barrie’s Toy Mountain collected more than $80,000 worth of donations and helped more than 800 local families enjoy a Christmas to remember.

“The generosity of our viewers during our annual Toy Mountain campaign is a reflection of our thoughtful, caring, and generous community,” said Ruth Anderson, News Director, CTV News Barrie. “We are proud to continue this holiday tradition that helps hundreds of our neighbours and honours the true meaning of the holiday season.”

Donations can be dropped off at the CTV Barrie studios (33 Beacon Road) throughout the campaign Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The South Simcoe Police will once again join the effort by “Stuffing a Command Post” and building a mountain of toys at two separate drop-off locations - Friday, Nov. 28 at Canadian Tire in Bradford (430 Holland Street West) and on Saturday, Nov. 29 at Walmart in Bradford (545 Holland Street West.)

CTV Barrie would like to thank this year’s Toy Mountain sponsor, Tilemaster, as their team will also be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys at their Barrie (79 Anne St. South) and Aurora (125 Mary Street) locations.

For more than a decade, CTV Barrie’s Toy Mountain has gathered tens of thousands of toys and generous cash donations for the children and teens who depend on the Children’s Aid Society of Simcoe County. The Toy Mountain campaign represents a strong partnership between CTV Barrie and the Children’s Aid Society of Simcoe County. The campaign is promotionally driven by CTV Barrie, with the Children’s Aid Society of Simcoe County providing collection and distribution logistics.
