Regina, SK (September 18, 2013) – CTV confirmed today the five communities chosen for the CTV Hometown Tour Fall Edition. Still in the throes of this week’s successful tour through Saskatchewan’s northern communities, the Tour takes the newscast due south from Monday Sept. 23 to 27, broadcasting live from Mossbank (Sept. 23), Lemberg (Sept. 24), White City (Sept. 25), Yorkton (Sept. 26), and LeRoy (Sept. 27).

Every spring and fall, viewers are invited to nominate their communities for the CTV Hometown Tour, and describe in writing what makes their hometown unique. Five host communities are selected from among the nominations, where CTV NEWS AT SIX will mount a live newscast in front of a local audience. Since the inception of the Tour in 2009, CTV’s valued partnership with the Saskatchewan Transportation Company makes it possible for CTV News to take the show on the road.

“The CTV Hometown Tour gives us an opportunity to unite the newscast with the diverse communities that make up this province, and turn the lens on the heart and soul of what makes our communities unique,” said David Fisher, Vice-President and General Manager of CTV Saskatchewan. “There are a lot of moving parts in bringing the newscast out into the community, and we thank both the host communities for rolling out the welcome mat and the Saskatchewan Transportation Company (STC) for facilitating our journey since the Tour’s inception.”

“By joining forces with the CTV Hometown Tour since the beginning, we’ve enjoyed a rare and unique opportunity to help showcase the great diversity of Saskatchewan,” said Shawn Grice, President and CEO of STC. “We are proud of our partnership with CTV NEWS, and are delighted to work alongside them on this ongoing and memorable journey.”

“Our ability to reflect the lives of our viewers with honesty and integrity is only elevated when we step out of our studio and into the communities we serve every day,” said CTV Regina News Director, Carl Worth.  “The Tour allows us to enrich the relationship we have with our viewers, and enjoy the changing seasons with the people who are the lifeblood of our newscast.

Since its launch, the CTV Hometown Tour has travelled to more than 50 communities province-wide. Its founding vision – to celebrate the rich cultural fabric of Saskatchewan’s diverse communities and serve them with the news they want and need – remains its proud standard.
