Saskatoon, SK (September 10, 2013) – CTV NEWS AT SIXco-anchor
Every spring and fall, viewers are invited to nominate their communities for the CTV Hometown Tour. Nominators describe in writing what is special about their hometown. From nominations received, five communities are selected to host the Tour, where CTV NEWS AT SIX will deliver a live newscast. Since the inception of the Tour in 2009, CTV’s valued partnership with the Saskatchewan Transportation Company makes it possible for CTV News to take the show on the road.
“The CTV Hometown Tour is a wonderful showcase of the extraordinary spirit you’ll find in each and every community in Saskatchewan –it is this spirit that drives our storytelling and we are proud that our viewers trust us to deliver news that reflects the communities we serve,”said
“We’ve been part of the Tour since the beginning,” said Shawn Grice, President and CEO of STC. “It’s great to be a part of this journey alongside CTV, and to showcase what makes each community across our province special.”
“It is a privilege to be welcomed into these communities, and to meet the viewers that invite us into their homes each day,” said CTV Saskatoon News Director, Doug Lett. “Our newscast is rooted in the community, and the Tour is a wonderful opportunity to deepen the relationship we have with our viewers and to meet them where they live."
Since its launch, the CTV Hometown Tour has travelled to more than 50 communities province-wide. Its founding vision – to celebrate the rich cultural fabric of Saskatchewan’s diverse communities and serve them with the news they want and need – remains its proud standard.
