TORONTO (October 15, 2014)– CTV News proudly congratulates Craig Oliver on his historicinduction into the Canadian News Hall of Fame. Celebrated with a galaevent in Toronto earlier this evening, the Canadian News Hall of Fame inductionsrecognize longstanding excellence in Canadian journalism.

 

One of Canada’s most eminent go-tosources for political insight, Oliver has provided rich storytelling and contextto the stories that have shaped this country’s political landscape for more than50 years. A respected and trusted political insider, he has covered news fromacross the globe, been involved in every Canadian federal election since 1957,and reported on the Reagan-Gorbachev summits that ended the Cold War.

Oliver’s induction to the Canadian NewsHall of Fame is just the latest of countless awards and accolades he hasreceived during his storied career, including the highest honour – hisinvestiture into the Order of Canada in 2012. In 1995, Oliver was recognizedwith TheRadio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) Presidents’Award for Excellence in Canadian broadcast journalism, and was also inductedinto the Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame. Oliver also took home two GeminiAwards in 1994 including the Gordon Sinclair Award for Best Overall Broadcastand the award for Best Reportage.
