REGINA (June 25, 2015) – As announced this past Monday by Co-Anchor Dan McIntosh, CTV NEWS AT SIX has selected this year’s four communities chosen for the summer’s CTV HOMETOWN TOUR. Throughout the month of July, CTV NEWS AT SIX will broadcast tour highlights and stories featuring the unique spirit and history of Saskatchewan’s Vanguard, Cupar, Carnduff, and Norquay communities, consecutively. Slated to air on four consecutive Thursday evenings through the month of July, the first segment, highlighting the village of Vanguard, airs Thursday, July 9.
Every spring and fall, viewers are invited to nominate their communities for the CTV HOMETOWN TOUR, and describe in writing what is special about their hometown. From nominations received, four communities are selected, culminating with the selected communities having their stories broadcast on CTV NEWS AT SIX. CTV Regina’s valued partnership with Western Canada’s Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) makes it possible to take the show on the road.
“The CTV HOMETOWN TOUR is our opportunity to broadcast the extraordinary spirit of residents across Saskatchewan, and the communities they have built,” said David Fisher, Vice-President and General Manager of CTV Saskatchewan. “This year we welcome Co-op as our new partner in this memorable journey.”
“With 2,500 retail locations in cities and towns across Western Canada, Co-op has become a fixture in communities large and small,” said Leah Andrew, Associate Vice-President, Marketing and Communications for Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL). “The CTV HOMETOWN TOUR is a great fit for our organization, emphasizing our shared values of being community minded and locally invested. Co-op is excited to join CTV in celebrating Saskatchewan communities throughout the summer of 2015 and beyond."
“We look forward to touring with our viewers and friends in their hometowns,” said Carl Worth, News Director, CTV Saskatchewan. “We consider it a privilege to share the unique and inspiring stories of our viewers’ lives.”
The CTV HOMETOWN TOUR has visited more than 100 communities across the province of Saskatchewan since its inception in 2009. Its founding vision – to serve the well-being of community – remains its proud standard.
