CTV Programming Highlights: August 1 - 14

August on CTV begins with all-new episodes of Canada’s #1 summer series THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, and CTV’s original comedy SPUN OUT, along with ZOO, HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT, HOT IN CLEVELAND, MASTERCHEF, MISTRESSES, and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. New to CTV are episodes of original Space series BITTEN and ORPHAN BLACK, and Bravo’s 19-2.   Programming Highlights for August 1 - 14 on CTV and CTV GO include:
  • Sarah’s (Tatiana Maslany) fate hangs in the balance as she tries to save her sister on ORPHAN BLACK (August 1)
  • Mitch (Billy Burke) and Chloe (Nora Arnezeder) are kidnapped by the local drug lord while solving a bat problem on ZOO (August 4)
  • Teams fight to stay afloat in the series’ first-ever Face Off challenge, all in an effort to survive the double U-turn, on THE AMAZING RACE CANADA (August 5)
  • During the Mystery Box Challenge, the remaining home cooks must prepare a flambé on MASTERCHEF (August 5)
  • Karen (Yunkin Kim) feels under the weather and heads to the doctor, only to receive surprising results on MISTRESSES (August 6)
  • In order to stay alive, Elena (Laura Vandervoort) must guide Dr. Bauer (Carly Street, The Time Traveler’s Wife) through her first Change on BITTEN (August 8)
  • Kip (Sean Hayes) urges the Millers to stage their own rival show on THE MILLERS (August 9)
  • Nick (Adrian Holmes) is called in for questioning by the SQ, leaving Ben (Jared Keeso) in the dark on 19-2 (August 9)
  • A double elimination heats up the competition as dancers from both teams fight to stay in the running to become America's Favourite Dancer on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (August 10)
  • Beckett (Paul Campbell) risks his life to uncover the truth about Stephanie’s (Rebecca Dalton) boyfriend Jasper (Darrin Rose, MR. D), who he suspects is a dirty cop, on SPUN OUT (August 11)

All programming is subject to change (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).  Saturday, August 1 9 p.m. – ORPHAN BLACK – “Newer Elements of our Defense” – NEW TO CTV Mark (Ari Millen) is taken down in a Prolethean shoot-out and Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) must step in to help. But as Sarah gathers intel that puts her on the trail of the original Castor DNA, a familiar foe is not far behind. While Helena (Maslany) continues to toil in a faraway military compound, it is ultimately Sarah’s fate that will hang in the balance as she tries to save her sister. Meanwhile, Gracie (Zoé De Grand Maison, Bad Hair Day) is cast out from the Prolethean fold, and Alison (Maslany) and Donnie (Kristian Bruun) come face-to-face with unhappy drug lord Jason Kellerman (Justin Chatwin, SHAMELESS). 10 p.m. – BITTEN – “Dead Meat” – NEW TO CTV Elena (Laura Vandervoort) awakens to find herself the subject of painful tests in a hidden compound run by a maniacal and powerful cult leader. Meanwhile, The Pack and witches must resort to dark magic in an effort to track down their missing members. Sunday, August 2 8:30pm – THE MILLERS – “Louise, Louise” – NEW EPISODE When The Millers get a visit from their elderly Aunt Louise (Cloris Leachman, GIRL MEETS WORLD), they rally to help her figure out what her legacy will be when she worries that she hasn't left her mark on the world yet. 9 p.m. – 19-2 – “Rock Garden” – NEW TO CTV Amelie (Tattiawna Jones) takes a chance on Ben (Jared Keeso), while Nick (Adrian Holmes) and Isabelle (Maxim Roy) receive shocking news about Theo (Zackaryer Abdillahi). Monday, August 3 8 p.m. – SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE –“Top 16 Perform Live + Elimination” – NEW EPISODE Teams Stage and Street find out who will stay in the competition for another week in the fight to become America's Favourite Dancer. Canadian viewers also have the opportunity to participate in the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Fan Save during the show. After the bottom six dancers have been revealed, viewers can tweet their vote to save one Stage and one Street dancer from elimination. Tuesday, August 4 8 p.m. – SPUN OUT – “Downward Dirty Dog” – NEW EPISODE Stephanie (Rebecca Dalton) must work with an old sorority sister, Chelsea Winters (Ingrid Haas, COMEDY BANG! BANG), after Chelsea’s new oversized yoga line, “Blue Whale,” lands her in hot water. Meanwhile, Beckett (Paul Campbell) and Nelson (Al Mukadam) compete for the most steps while promoting a new fitness-tracking device. After Dave (Dave Foley) buys Manion’s, he hires Abby (Holly Deveaux) as its new bartender and Bryce (J.P. Manoux) to oversee operations. Their first and only task: improve the nachos. 9 p.m. – ZOO – “This Is What It Sounds Like” – NEW EPISODE While searching for a solution to the bat problem in Rio de Janeiro, Mitch (Billy Burke) and Chloe (Nora Arnezeder) are kidnapped by the local drug lord and Abraham (Nonso Anozie) must come to the rescue. Also, reeling from the car crash that allowed escaped death row inmate Evan Lee Hartley (Marcus Hester, Homefront) to steal the one piece of evidence they had against Reiden Global, the Mother Cell take action. Jamie (Kristen Connolly), Jackson (James Wolk), and Agent Shaffer (Geoff Stults, THE ODD COUPLE) – team up to track him down, and it lands Jamie in trouble with the FBI. 10 p.m. – HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT – “DON'T DRINK AND GAME NIGHT” – NEW EPISODE Two contestants each lead a team of three celebrities, which include Gina Rodriguez (JANE THE VIRGIN), Rex Lee (Entourage), Tom Arnold (SIN CITY SAINTS), Curtis Stone (THE CHEW), Yvette Nicole Brown (THE ODD COUPLE), and Zachary Levi (ROBOT CHICKEN), with the goal of winning the $25,000 grand prize. Wednesday, August 5 8 p.m. – MASTERCHEF – “A Little Southern Flare” – NEW EPISODE In the next Mystery Box Challenge, the remaining home cooks must prepare a flambé. The winner of the challenge is not only safe from the next Elimination Challenge, but will also determine which Southern dish the contestants must make. 9 p.m. – THE AMAZING RACE CANADA – “The Face Off” – NEW EPISODE Teams discover one of Québec’s hidden gems, the Magdalen Islands, where they dig deep, get dirty, and fight to stay afloat in the series’ first-ever Face Off challenge, all in an effort to survive the double U-turn. Thursday, August 6 7 p.m. – ETALK PRESENTS: SUMMER MOVIE GUIDE – NEW SPECIAL This ETALK special gives an in-depth guide to the summer’s most anticipated box office blockbusters, with new interviews with the movie’s biggest stars. 9 p.m. – MISTRESSES – “Unreliable Witnesses” – NEW EPISODE Feeling under the weather, Karen (Yunkin Kim) heads to the doctor and is stunned when she gets the results. April (Rochelle Aytes) and Blair (Brian White, SCANDAL) move their relationship forward, even though Lucy admits that she's not fond of him. Marc (Rob Mayes) continues to struggle with his old demons, but Harry (Brett Tucker) is there to help him get back on track. Joss (Jes Macallan) scrambles for evidence against Calista (Jennifer Esposito), but when Calista twists the story to her benefit the future looks very grim for Joss. Friday, August 7 7 p.m. – ETALK PRESENTS: THE BEST OF MUSIC SO FAR – NEW SPECIAL ETALK anchor Ben Mulroney and senior reporter Devon Soltendieck celebrate some of the year’s best music interviews featuring sit downs with Shania twain, Jason Derulo and Walk The Moon. Saturday, August 8 9 p.m. – ORPHAN BLACK – “Scarred By Many Past Frustrations”– NEW TO CTV Helena (Tatiana Maslany) and her sestra are reunited at the Castor camp when Sarah (Maslany) is captured. As Sarah suffers testing, Paul (Dylan Bruce) appears to chide her, but his allegiances are beginning to strain. While the Leda family worries about Sarah’s absence, Gracie (Zoé De Grand Maison, Bad Hair Day) ‘breaks Amish’ under the care of Mrs. S (Maria Doyle Kennedy) and an unwilling Felix (Jordan Gavaris). Cosima (Maslany) falls hard for an Internet date, Shay (Skenia Solo, LOST GIRL). 10 p.m. BITTEN – “Rabbit Hole” – NEW TO CTV In order to stay alive, Elena (Laura Vandervoort) must guide Dr. Bauer (Carly Street, The Time Traveler’s Wife) through her first Change as The Pack and Coven try to figure out who Aleister (Sean Rogerson) is, and where his compound is located. Sunday, August 9 8:30pm – THE MILLERS – “Highway to the Manger Zone” – NEW EPISODE When staging their church’s annual living nativity scene does not go as planned, Kip (Sean Hayes) urges the Millers to stage their own rival show. Also, Carol (Margo Marindale) asks Nathan (Will Arnett) and Kip to put aside their differences as a Christmas gift to her. 9 p.m. – 19-2 – “Tables” – NEW TO CTV In an episode of crisis and climax that will forever change the relationship between Nick (Adrian Holmes) and Ben (Jared Keeso), Ben is left in the dark when Nick is called in for questioning by the SQ. Meanwhile, accusations fly when a joint raid between Station 19 and Tactical goes wrong. J.M. (Dan Petronijevic) and Audrey (Laurence Leboeuf) form an uneasy partnership when paired together. A call to a strip club leads to a surprise discovery about Beatrice's (Mylene Dinh-Robic) past and an irresistible opportunity for her future. Nick stumbles onto a potential lead to the Mole. Monday, August 10 8 p.m. – SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE – “Top 14 Perform + Elimination” NEW EPISODE The competition heats up with a double elimination as dancers from both teams fight to stay in the running to become America's Favourite Dancer. Canadian viewers also have the opportunity to participate in the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Fan Save during the show. After the bottom six dancers have been revealed, viewers can tweet their vote to save one Stage and one Street dancer from elimination. Tuesday, August 11 8 p.m. – SPUN OUT – “The Secret Of My Ex-Wife’s Success” – NEW EPISODE Dave (Dave Foley) mentors his second ex-wife, Maggie (Jennifer Tilly, FAMILY GUY), in the art of PR. He might have taught her too well though, when Maggie lands a big client Dave was courting. Beckett (Paul Campbell) suspects Stephanie’s (Rebecca Dalton) boyfriend Jasper (Darrin Rose, MR. D) is a dirty cop, so risks his life and his friendship with Stephanie to uncover the truth. Gordon (Darcy Michael) finds himself trapped in the building’s elevator and it’s up to Abby (Holly Deveaux) to get him out. 8:30 p.m. – HOT IN CLEVELAND – “The Young and the Restless” – NEW EPISODE Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli) enlists Joy’s (Jane Leeves) help to convince Jenna (Samantha Martin, THE SOUL MAN) to go to medical school. Victoria obsesses over a nude scene for her new show. Elka (Betty White) takes ‘Councilman for the Day,’ Lance (River Alexander, GOOD LUCK CHARLIE) under her wing. 9 p.m. – ZOO – “SLEUTHS” – NEW EPISODE Synopsis currently unavailable. 10 p.m. – HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT – “MR. SMITH GOES TO GAME NIGHT” Two contestants each lead a team of three celebrities, which include Kevin Smith (COMIC BOOK MEN), Justin Long (NEW GIRL), Brandon T. Jackson (DEADBEAT), Jay Pharoah (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE), Elisha Cuthbert (HAPPY ENDINGS), and Haley Joel Osment (Entourage), with the goal of winning the $25,000 grand prize.  Wednesday, August 12 8 p.m. – MASTERCHEF – “Getting A-Head in the Competition” – NEW EPISODE In the next Team Challenge, the remaining home cooks split into teams to prepare vegetarian meals for guests of the MASTERCHEF restaurant. Teams have access to any ingredients that they choose in the MASTERCHEF pantry, as long as the dishes are vegetarian. The winning team is safe from elimination, while the losing team must cook in the next Pressure Test and create delicious well-composed meals using various cuts from an animal head. 9 p.m. – THE AMAZING RACE CANADA – NEW EPISODE Teams continue their race around the world as they move on to the next set of challenges in hopes of winning the biggest grand prize in Canadian television history.
