The steel giant carries a 13,000-ton oilrig from Singapore to the Gulf of Mexico, passing through busy shipping channels and around rocky peninsulas, battling ferocious storms across two oceans. This episode follows her elite crew on the epic voyage and unlocks the engineering secrets of the ship. RISE OF THE MACHINES – “Mega Truck” Monday, June 29 at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT Taller than a two-story house and weighing 260 tons, the world’s biggest haul truck – the Liebherr T284 - has the pulling power of a freight train. The incredible machine is on a mission in Nevada to move a mountain of rock and uncover 180,000 tons of gold ore in one of the world’s biggest gold mines. This episode follows the truck’s elite team on their unique mission and unlocks its engineering secrets. RISE OF THE MACHINES – “Super Train” Monday, July 13 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT At 300 km/hr, one of the world’s fastest trains – the Italo AGV – has the horsepower of 16 Formula One cars. The 200-metre-long metal bullet races 500 kilometres, from Venice to Rome, in less than four hours, while manouvering sharp turns, a crowded national rail network and 18-kilometre long tunnels. This episode follows the Super Train’s elite crew on their mission and unlocks the engineering secrets of its innovative suspension system and nine million watt motor. RISE OF THE MACHINES – “Super Airship” Monday, July 20 at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT At Tustin Airbase in California, the Aeros Dragon Dream takes to the sky for its very first test flight. The revolutionary new breed of airship could open a new chapter in aviation. The helium-filled behemoth may be the first viable heavy lift airship in history that could transport cargo around the world at a fraction of the cost of airfreight. This episode follows the airhips elite crew on their ground breaking test mission and unlocks the engineering secrets of its pioneering design. RISE OF THE MACHINES – “Mega Digger” Monday, July 27 at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT One of the world’s largest diggers – the Komatsu PC8000 – is twelve metres tall and weighs more than two fully laden jumbo jets. The Mega Digger shovels 27,000 tons of copper ore in less than four days at Copper Mountain mine in British Columbia. At a nearby Vancouver Port, a freight ship waits to carry precious copper concentrate to Japan, where it will be used in Asia’s high-tech industries. This episode follows the mine’s crew at work and explores the 750-ton machine’s astonishing technology to reveal how it can rotate 360 degrees in only 20 seconds and how its incredible 70-ton bucket mimics nature’s mightiest digger – the mole. RISE OF THE MACHINES – “Mega Lift Helicopter” Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT Canada’s Erickson Air Crane is the world’s only flying crane. The 10,000 horsepower areal acrobat with 11-metre blades has the capacity to lift loads of over nine tons and landing them with millimetre precision. A new $1.6 billion power line is needed in the remote Alberta wilderness between Calgary and Edmonton. The heavy-lift helicopter constructs 120 transmission towers across 120 kilometers in only eight days. This episode follows the helicopter’s elite crew on their epic mission and unlocks the engineering secrets of its mighty jet engines. RISE OF THE MACHINES – “Ultimate Dragster” Monday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT The fastest accelerating vehicle on the planet can reach speeds of over 500 km/hr. In Pomona, California, the world's fastest dragsters are battling it out in the final of the NHRA World Championships. Leading them all is the astonishing Al-Anabi Top Fuel Dragster. This episode uncovers the breakthroughs behind this lightening-fast vehicle and examines its extraordinary acceleration and high performance brakes.
