Bravery reigns in the second season of the riveting Canadian Screen Award-nominated series, airing Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning March 10, as the captains and their crews attempt to arrive at The Rock’s fishing grounds. The clock doesn’t stop ticking as returning Captain Richard Gillet and fellow fishermen – including newcomers Andre and Michelle Jesso, and Morris Anstey – pit themselves against Mother Nature in the hunt for bragging rights, and a fortune of fish in the hold! **Media Note** Photography for COLD WATER COWBOYS available online at BellMediaPR.ca. Returning to its timeslot where it outperformed all other Canadian Entertainment Specialty channels*, the epic second season of the megahit series from Paperny Entertainment features new boats and new crews joining last year’s stars – each of them determined to prove they have what it takes to be among the COLD WATER COWBOYS. It’s a season filled with bigger, bolder gambles as fishing vessels become icebreakers, harsh conditions take a toll on vital equipment, and crews  are pushed to the breaking point. Fishing in Newfoundland has always been a family affair, and this season sons, fathers, brothers, husbands, and wives are on deck to join the race for the best catch.

Viewers can now play along with Newfoundland’s finest fisherman – click here! In anticipation of the hit series’ second season, Discovery.ca presents the Cold Water Cowboys: Atlantic Empire simulation game – a combination of both strategy and skill based gameplay, show characters and locations, along with a strong social media component. Players control their own fishing vessels while going for broke as one of the cold water cowboys in the unforgiving North Atlantic using map-based gameplay to  net as much crab, shrimp, turbot, herring, and mackerel to build a fishing dynasty. The Captains of COLD WATER COWBOYS Season 2:
Richard Gillett is a giant of a man with the personality to match.  He is a fifth generation fisherman of Twillingate, Newfoundland, and there’s nowhere else on earth he could exist – he is rooted to the place.
Morris Anstey is a good friend – and fierce competitor – of Richard Gillett.   Morris and the crew of his boat the Sebastian Sails Fishing, personify the fishing family tradition that is so strong in Newfoundland - Morris fishes with his father and his son.  All three generations love being on the water, and it’s not just for the money – “Every day, we can’t wait to get up and get back out on the water,” says Morris.  And working with three generations of family?  Well, Morris says that just adds to the fun – and when things go bad, there’s no other men he would want to have his back out 100 miles offshore.
Seventeen years ago, Rick Caines was about to sell his fishing boat, until he called his son Conway back from Alberta and asked him to come help out with the family business.  Conway ran back to his old stomping ground of Cow Head, Newfoundland at the drop of hat, and the two have been on the seas together ever since. Times are tough, but these two have salt water running through their veins and can’t imagine doing anything else with their lives.
A few hours South of Conway and Rick’s home port, Captain Andre Jesso and his wife (and first mate) Michelle are getting ready to fish on their boat the Wave on Wave.  Andre is the first to say that fishing is just about the hardest way a man can make a living, but he never wants to do anything else.  Michelle works as hard as any fisherman and she is definitely the Queen of the Deck – there’s no messing around when you're fishing with her!  Andre and Michelle have fished together for almost 30 years but they only started seining three years ago – that means they’re still learning the ropes and have a lot to prove this season.
Paul Tiller shelled out $170,000 renovating his boat last winter and he needs to make big money this season to get back in the black.  The boat’s got a new wheelhouse, new plumbing and a new name.   She’s now called Atlantic Bandit, with a newly painted skull and crossbones on her hull.  Everyone agrees it looks totally bad-ass, but crew members Garry and Jason think Paul is playing fast and loose with fate.  It’s a long held maritime tradition that it’s bad luck to change the name of a boat and the last thing they need 100 miles offshore is bad mojo! Highlights from the first two episodes of Season 2 include: COLD WATER COWBOYS: “Ice Breaker” Tuesday, March 10 at 10 p.m. ET/PT Captain Gillett and his crew shovel Midnight Shadow out from under a foot of snow in their home port of Twillingate. It’s been a terrible winter and the entire fishing season has been delayed. Gillett has decided to skip waiting for crab and go for winter herring. It’s a risky move, as 50 nautical miles of thick-as-concrete pack ice stand between Gillet and his prize. But he can’t bear to sit around when there’s fish to be caught. COLD WATER COWBOYS: “New Faces, New Problems” Tuesday, March 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT Gillett and the crew are hell-bent on catching 1 million pounds of herring this season.  They’re already well on their way, but Gillett’s still struggling to train his new skiff-man, Enos. Gillett has invested a lot of time and patience in training Enos, and so far, it’s been more frustration than anticipated. In addition to the all-new Cold Water Cowboys: Atlantic Empire simulation game, the COLD WATER COWBOYS viewer engagement extends through mobile via the Discovery App and at Discovery.ca, where users can watch full episodes and video extras, discover behind-the-scenes content, see Captain and fish “bios”, explore photo galleries and fishing maps, and find series and episode descriptions.
