The campaign begins this Friday, Sept. 27 and continues through the month of October in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, before concluding Friday, Oct. 25.

Throughout the campaign, residents of Peterborough and the Kawarthas are encouraged to donate their gently-used brassieres at designated drop-off locations: at Energy 99.7/ Country 105 (59 George St. N.), OLG Slots At Kawartha Downs (1382 County Road 28, Fraserville), and the Canadian Cancer Society (750 The Kingsway, Unit 2). OLG Slots at Kawartha will donate $1 per bra collected to the Canadian Cancer Society to support breast cancer research.

Peterborough Petes fans can get involved in the fight against breast cancer by coming out to cheer on the Petes as they take on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7:05 p.m. When fans purchase a regular bowl ticket and use the promo code ‘BRAS’ at the box office, they will receive $4 off the ticket price, and a $4 donation will be made to BRAS AROUND THE BUILDING in support of the Peterborough & District Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society. Fans can also drop off their gently used bras in the lobby on game night.

On Friday, Oct. 25, all bras collected will be strung around the exterior of the Energy 99.7/ Country 105 station to show support for women battling breast cancer, survivors, and to remember those who have lost their battle. Upon completion of a tally of all donations, a cheque will be presented to the Peterborough & District Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society for breast cancer research. Bras will be on display from Friday, Oct. 25 to Monday, Oct. 28. At the end of the campaign, bras will be dry cleaned, courtesy of Rocky’s Cleaners (651 Chamberlain St.), and turned over to Seeds of Hope for Women in Honduras.

During the 2012 campaign, a total of 4,309 bras were collected and $15,000 was raised in support of the Canadian Cancer Society and breast cancer research.
