Epic New Series THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES Debuts as the Most-Watched Premiere Ever on MTV

TORONTO (January 7, 2016) – MTV’s highly-anticipated new fantasy series THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES took over Canadian televisions on Jan. 5 as the most-watched series premiere ever on MTV, and the most-watched individual airing on MTV since JERSEY SHORE (2011/2012). Drawing 383,000 total viewers, the new series was the top English specialty program of the day with MTV’s key A18-49 and F18-49 demos, making MTV the #1 English specialty station during the 10 p.m. – midnight timeslot. In total, THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES premiere reached almost 700,000 viewers. Canadians can watch the epic premiere episode now on MTV.ca. In the next episode of THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES, airing Tuesday, Jan. 12 at 10 p.m. ET, Wil (Austin Butler, THE CARRIE DIARIES) and Amberle (Poppy Drayton, WHEN CALLS THE HEART) are kidnapped by Eretria (Ivana Baquero, Pan's Labyrinth) and Cephalo (James Remar, DEXTER) while returning to the palace. But the Rovers are the least of their worries –Wil must learn how to use the Elfstones before a bloodthirsty Fury kills them all.
