TORONTO (April 23, 2014) – Animal Planet’s giant of a week returns for its third year to tell the frightfully fun and over-the-top tales of the monsters that lurk below water and stalk on land. The monster madness begins with the premiere of the unrelenting KILLER SHARKS (May 18), six days with nature’s aggressors in EATEN ALIVE (May 19-24), and fearless man killers in MAN-EATING ZOMBIE CATS (May 20). Then, MONSTER WEEK ventures underwater with fascinating but deadly animals in SWIMMING WITH MONSTERS (May 21), and visits deadly and rare sharks in the network premiere of ALIEN SHARKS (May 21). Niall McCann is back on an exciting adventure in BIGGEST AND BADDEST S2 (May 22) while Animal Planet explores the wild Zambezi River in fan-favourite RIVER MONSTERS (May 24). The final MONSTER WEEK treat concludes with the network premiere of MEGALODON: MONSTER SHARK LIVES (May 25).

KILLER SHARKS

Sunday, May 18 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT

One of the most brutal, deadly, and unstoppable series of shark attacks terrorizes the coastal tourist towns of South Africa during the holiday season of 1957.

EATEN ALIVE: KILLERS ON THE LOOSE

Monday, May 19 at 10 p.m. ET/7p.m. PT
A Texan man's visit to an African chimp sanctuary becomes a deadly struggle when he and his guide are attacked by the colony's escaped alpha male. Then, Idaho Zoo's “Feast for the Beast” fundraiser takes a bloody turn when a 272-kilogram Siberian tiger breaks free and pursues one of the organizers. Later, a police officer faces an angry bull when the animal escapes from a “bloodless” Massachusetts bullfight and goes on a rampage.

MAN-EATING ZOMBIE CATS

Tuesday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT

An incurable zombie-like pathogen is spreading fast, turning big cats around the world into fearless man killers. These mindless predators have a sensational thirst for blood and the human population is now their biggest target.

 
SWIMMING WITH MONSTERS

Wednesday, May 21 at 8 p.m. ET/ 9 p.m. PT

Wildlife expert and adventurer Steve Backshall has spent his entire life getting up close to incredible animals. Now he wants to study four of the most “monstrous” animals on the planet, by entering their underwater world and getting closer to them than ever before. Backshall joins forces with behavioural experts, scientists, and extreme divers in order to dive with these captivating, yet deadly creatures. **Programming note: SWIMMING WITH MONSTERS: HIPPOS airs May 23 at 8 p.m. / 9 p.m. ET.

ALIEN SHARKS

Wednesday, May 21 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

Scientists embark on an expedition to film bizarre, deadly, and extremely rare sharks of the deep sea. Their search reveals species that have changed little since the Jurassic era and leads them to an encounter with one of the world's rarest sharks.

BIGGEST AND BADDEST S2: SWAMP MONSTERS

Thursday, May 22 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

Biologist/adventurer Niall McCann travels to Louisiana in search of legendary iconic creatures of the swamp. Everyone knows about alligators but McCann is after more mysterious denizens of these waters: the giant prehistoric air breathing Alligator Gar. McCann joins local fisherman on an epic hunt through the bayous for monsters that few outside the state have seen and reveals startling facts about the animals' origins, and the dangers this dinosaur-fish faces in today's industrial world. 

RIVER MONSTERS: INVISIBLE EXECUTIONER

Saturday, May 24 at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT

Jeremy Wade takes on Africa's wild Zambezi River to unmask an invisible predator that's dragging fisherman to their deaths. Crocs and hippos are guilty of killing many in plain view, yet it seems there's another monster stalking these deadly waters. **Programming note: The encore presentation airs May 25 at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT

MEGALODON: MONSTER SHARK LIVES

Sunday, May 25 at 8 p.m. ET/ 9p.m. PT

In April 2013, a fishing vessel was attacked off the coast of South Africa, killing all on board. A television crew documented marine biologist, Colin Drake as he worked to determine the predator responsible.
