TORONTO (September 19, 2013) – HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Bell Media’s The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central (Western Canada), presents GETTING ON, a new six-part, half-hour, dark comedy from HBO. The series premieres Sunday, Nov. 24 at 10 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada, day-and-date with HBO in the U.S.
A critical and ratings success in the U.K., where The Telegraph named it the best television show of 2010, the HBO adaptation of GETTING ON is set in the women’s extended-care facility of a Long Beach hospital. The series follows the daily lives of the unit’s nurses, doctors, and administrators. Working in a system desperate for an overhaul, the anxious staff members are played by three-time Emmy®-award winner Laurie Metcalf (THE BIG BANG THEORY), Alex Borstein (FAMILY GUY), Niecy Nash (RENO 911!), and Mel Rodriguez (COMMUNITY). This dark medical comedy offers viewers a brutally candid and quietly compassionate look into the realities of caring for the elderly. The series was created by Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer, creators and executive producers of HBO’s smash hit BIG LOVE.
Immediately following the premiere of GETTING ON, new HBO comedy series JA’MIE: PRIVATE SCHOOL GIRL, starring Chris Lilley (ANGRY BOYS, SUMMER HEIGHTS HIGH), debuts at 10:30 ET/MT.
GETTING ON guests stars include Molly Shannon (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE), Daniel Stern (THE WONDER YEARS), Harry Dean Stanton (BIG LOVE), June Squibb (GIRLS) and Irma P. Hall (The Ladykillers).
In Eastern Canada, episodes will be available in High Definition and on TMN GO, HBO Canada OnDemand and HBO Canada OnLine.
