HEAVY RESCUE: 401 Sees Big Lift With Nearly Half a Million Viewers Tuning In for Season 3 Premiere on Discovery

TORONTO (January 25, 2019) – Final Numeris data confirms that the Season 3 premiere of Discovery’s smash-hit original series HEAVY RESCUE: 401 increased its audience by 28% over the Season 2 debut, with more than 481,000 viewers. The debut episode was also the most-watched entertainment specialty program of the day among the key demo of A25-54 with 253,000 viewers. To date, more than 2.2 million unique viewers have tuned in to the first episode of Season 3.
Discovery also confirmed today that production is underway on a fourth season, with crews currently filming in locations across Ontario. The fourth season is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Discovery in 2020.
The success of HEAVY RESCUE: 401 coincides with an overall growth in viewership for Discovery this broadcast year to date, seeing a 12% audience increase across the key A25-54 demo, and boasting three Top 10 programs among entertainment specialty with CANADA’S WORST DRIVER, HIGHWAY THRU HELL, and GOLD RUSH.
Produced by Thunderbird Entertainment Group Inc., the makers of the Discovery’s fan-favourite series HIGHWAY THRU HELL, HEAVY RESCUE: 401 tells the dramatic stories of heavy recovery tow truck drivers who continue the good fight across one of North America’s busiest and most unforgiving series of highways. In next weeks’ episode, “There’s Got to Be a Way,” premiering Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, a freak bout of thick fog descends on the highway, turning a seemingly simple recovery into one of the most dangerous jobs of Gary’s career; a mangled trailer forces the Ross crew to take a chance on a very unconventional maneuver; and Bubba must learn to be a leader when a heavy lumber wreck puts his skills to the test.
