TORONTO (March 7, 2013)– Beam us up, Chris! All next week, Canada’s favourite science show celebrates Canada’s Chris Hadfield taking over as Commander at the International Space Station, by challenging the biggest science centers across the country to come up with the coolest, most awesome mind-blowing demonstrations in DAILY PLANET’s SCIENCE CENTRE SHOWDOWN. The special week premieres Monday, March 11 at 7 p.m. ET, with segments running throughout the week, and culminating in a star-studded showdown on Friday, March 15 at 7 p.m. ET, featuring a celebrity judges panel, including the iconic Penn Jillette and NASA star Mohawk Guy, who will offer their unique perspective on the demos. The winner of the showdown will be announced by none other than Commander Hadfield, beamed in LIVE from the ISS! 


The dynamic demos will blast-off on DAILY PLANET each night next week, and viewers will be able to vote for their favourites by tweeting or online voting. The week will climax on Showdown Day – Friday, March 15 – when all seven demos will be presented once again to the star-studded judges panel at Discovery HQ.
