"Family band…not a family show." – Jason Alexander at the July 2017 Television Critics Association Tour
TORONTO (November 22, 2017) – Forget the Osmonds. Forget the Jacksons. Forget the Partridge Family. Meet the Swallows…the greatest family band the world has never heard of. SEINFELD alum and Emmy® and Golden Globe®-nominee Jason Alexander stars in and executive produces CraveTV’s latest Original Series HIT THE ROAD, a new 10-episode, half-hour comedy series which begins streaming on Friday, December 22.
HIT THE ROAD joins CraveTV’s lineup of CraveTV Originals, series available to Canadian audiences exclusively on the service. Other Original Series include LETTERKENNY, SHUT EYE, which returns for Season 2 on December 7, CASUAL, and OUTSIDERS.
HIT THE ROAD also helps kick off CraveTV’s upcoming Cringe Comedy Collection which launches in mid-December. The newly curated collection puts a spotlight on some of television’s most cringe-worthy and hilariously awkward individuals like Larry David, George Costanza, and Nathan Fielder of Comedy Central’s NATHAN FOR YOU. The collection features series such as the entire SEINFELD library, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM (Season 1-8), EPISODES, DICE, EASTBOUND AND DOWN, SMILF, THE COMEBACK, and more.
HIT THE ROAD follows the chaotically dysfunctional Swallow family, a brood of would-be rock/pop stars who traverse the country in a cramped tour bus sacrificing privacy, comfort, and dignity while in search of fame and fortune. Struggling to navigate their lives and relationships while juggling what’s best for the family versus what’s best for the band, they invariably end up making unfortunate decisions. Nevertheless, nothing will stop them from claiming their rightful place in pop history.
The series stars Jason Alexander as family patriarch Ken Swallow, the ultimate dreamer and the ultimate schemer, who has always believed in his extraordinary talent, and is resolutely determined to find fame and fortune for himself and his family at any cost. The series also stars Amy Pietz (CAROLINE IN THE CITY) as Ken’s wife Meg; Canadians Natalie Sharp (SUPERNATURAL) and Maddie Dixon-Poirier (HELL ON WHEELS) as daughters Ria and Casey; Nick Marini (CHICAGO FIRE) as son Alex; and Tim Johnson Jr. as adopted son Jermaine.
HIT THE ROAD is distributed by Sony Pictures Television; created by Peter Tilden, Jason Alexander, and Dean Craig; and produced by Fabrik Entertainment. Executive producers are Alexander, Tilden, Craig, Bart Peters, Christopher Long for Audience Network, and Mark Burg for Primary Wave Entertainment, and Melissa Aouate and Henrik Bastin for Fabrik Entertainment.
