MEAT LOAF: IN AND OUT OF HELL, A Feature Documentary Revealing the Man Behind the Persona, Now Streaming on CraveTV
— October 13, 2017
As Toronto sets the stage for the opening of Jim Steinman's Bat Out Of Hell - The Musical, which begins previews tomorrow night at the Ed Mirvish Theatre, the candid documentary MEAT LOAF: IN AND OUT OF HELL begins streaming today on CraveTV.
Streaming as part of #iCraveFridays, MEAT LOAF: IN AND OUT OF HELL provides an in-depth profile of rock legend Meat Loaf, through personal testimony and interviews from family, friends, and fellow musicians such as Todd Rundgren, Bonnie Tyler, and Lou Adler.
Since the release of the seminal 1977 album Bat Out Of Hell, still one of the best-selling albums of all time, Meat Loaf has gained international rock star status that few artists obtain throughout their careers. His mesmerizing performances and powerful voice are driven by a passion for theatre and storytelling.
Intimate, eye-opening, gritty, and at times humorous, the film reveals Meat Loaf’s epic journey, from a childhood plagued by domestic violence to a decade of record company rejection to eventual global fame. The musician reflects on the music that propelled him to stardom and reveals how his experiences informed those songs.
MEAT LOAF: IN AND OUT OF HELL is directed by Matt O’Casey and executive produced by Siobhan Logue.
The film joins CraveTV’s robust lineup of music documentaries and specials that includes THE DEFIANT ONES, PRINCE: SIGN O’ THE TIMES, WHITNEY: “CAN I BE ME”, MADONNA: REBEL HEART TOUR, Spike Lee’s MICHAEL JACKSON’S JOURNEY FROM MOTOWN TO OFF THE WALL, and KURT COBAIN: MONTAGE OF HECK.
Following an acclaimed London run that critics described as “jaw-dropping” and “an adrenaline rush”, Bat Out Of Hell - The Musical begins previews in Toronto tomorrow night, Saturday, October 14 at Toronto’s Ed Mirvish Theatre. The musical was recently extended until December 24 due to popular demand. Tickets can be purchased at mirvish.com/shows/bat-out-of-hell.
