TORONTO (March 15, 2019) – On the heels of Bell Media’s official launch of STARZ in Canada, it was announced today that Season 1 of THE ACT will be available as a STARZ exclusive in Canada. The new, seasonal, anthology series that tells startling, stranger-than-fiction true crime stories will roll out in Canada as follows:
  • Episodes 1 and 2 drop on the STARZ streaming platform and On Demand on Wednesday, March 20 at 6 a.m. ET with subsequent episodes premiering weekly, Wednesdays at 6 a.m. ET
  • Episode 1 premieres on the STARZ linear channels on Sunday, March 24 at 9 p.m. ET with subsequent episodes airing weekly, Sundays at 9 p.m. ET
Season 1 of THE ACT stars Golden Globe® award winner Patricia Arquette, Joey King, Chloë Sevigny, and AnnaSophia Robb, and is based on the 2016 BuzzFeed article “Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter To Be Sick, Gypsy Wanted Her Mom Murdered” by Michelle Dean who also serves as co-creator and executive producer. THE ACT follows Gypsy Blanchard (King) as she tries to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother Dee Dee (Arquette). Her quest for independence opens a Pandora’s Box of secrets, one that ultimately leads to murder. From Universal Content Productions (UCP), Nick Antosca is co-creator and executive producer, while Greg Shephard and Britton Rizzio also serve as executive producers. THE ACT joins an already stacked line up of must-see shows available to STARZ subscribers in Canada, including the new millennial comedy NOW APOCALPYSE, the highly anticipated spy-thriller THE ROOK, premiering this summer; past seasons of popular titles such as POWER, PARTY DOWN, and THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE; critical darlings VIDA and SWEETBITTER; hundreds of fan-favourite movies; and more. How to get STARZ in Canada:
  • On two linear channels and the on demand platforms of participating television providers.
  • Via the STARZ streaming service which is available directly to all Canadians with access to the internet as an add-on to Crave for an additional $5.99/month. It can be accessed at Crave.ca, and the Crave app on iOS and Android, and Apple TV Generation 4, with additional platforms rolling out in the coming months.
