Montreal, October 15, 2014 - On Thursday, RDS viewers will experience all the excitement of the Montreal Canadiens’ home opener, as they host their perennial rivals, the Boston Bruins, at the Bell Centre at 7:30 p.m. ET.

From the new opening credits sequence all the way through to the game’s first face-off, RDS will present the pre-game festivities in full, with no commercial breaks. Experts when it comes to staging opening ceremonies, the Canadiens will present the members of the 2014-2015 team as well as treating fans to a number of surprises, including the identity of the torchbearer. All RDS reports and interviews at the start of the broadcast will be conducted live on site, and viewers will see the singing of the national anthems.

The game will also mark the debut of a new segment, Courrier du coach (“Coach’s Mailbag”), in which Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien will answer questions from fans received via RDS.ca. Why hasn’t P.K. Subban worn the assistant captain’s “A” on his sweater yet? Find out from the coach this Thursday during one of the intermissions.

What’s more, viewers will be able to enjoy the voice of actor, musician and hockey lover Gildor Roy, who will provide the narration for the game’s intro segment. A proud Bruins fan, Roy will be the first of many renowned artists and public figures to appear throughout the season.

Starting at 4 p.m. ET, SPORTS 30 LE MAGAZINE and its team of sports insiders will review the Habs’ start to the season and set the scene for the game with reports from experts and colleagues on site at the Bell Centre.

At 5 p.m. ET, LE  5 À 7 will bring its set—not to mention its sense of humour—to the Avenue des Canadiens for a special “tailgate” edition of the show that will fully immerse viewers in the pre-opening game atmosphere outside the Bell Centre. Fans can look forward to social media content and interviews from the blue carpet in particular.

At 6:30 p.m. ET, HOCKEY 360 will analyze the two teams and preview the game with the strongest lineup of hockey experts in the business. All RDS Canadiens hockey broadcast team members and on-site reporters will join in the discussion, broadcast live from the show’s revamped set.

After the game, at around 10:15 p.m. ET, L’ANTICHAMBRE will provide post-match coverage. There will be analysis, commentary and opinions as the popular panellists of Quebec’s number-one sports talk show look back on the performance, plus locker room reactions and coach Therrien’s press conference.

The Ottawa Senators will also return home on thursday for their first game at the Canadian Tire Centre after starting the season on the road. They will host the Colorado Avalanche and their star head coach, Patrick Roy, in a game presented on RDS2 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Senators will also be among the topics covered on RDS’s various news shows starting at 4 p.m. ET.
