TORONTO (Sept. 16, 2014) – All Hail! Hot off the heels of the racy and seductive first season, REIGN – the 2014 People’s Choice Award winner for Favourite New TV Drama – returns with a sophomore season teeming with regal intrigue and fatal seduction, Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. ET, exclusively on M3. In the second season of the 22-episode, one-hour historical drama set in 16th century France and inspired by the young life of Mary, Queen of Scots, France is plagued by the Black Death, while Mary and King Francis take their place on the throne. Filmed on location in Toronto and Ireland, REIGN stars Adelaide Kane as Mary Queen of Scots and Toby Regbo as King Francis, as well as Canadians Torrance Coombs as the brave and determined Bash and Megan Follows as the ever-ruthless Queen Mother, Catherine. Episodes encore Saturdays at 7 p.m. ET on M3. Please click here to view a teaser for Season 2.

The first season of REIGN captivated M3 viewers, becoming the channel’s most-watched new series, averaging an audience of 115,300 viewers and making M3 the #1 Entertainment Specialty channel in its timeslot, among F12-34, F18-34, F18-49, and F25-54.

In the second season of REIGN, powerful lords rise, carrying out personal, religious, and political vendettas, taking lives, and tearing at Mary and Francis’ commitment to their people – and to each other. Despite the political and social upheaval, life at court continues to revolve around love, lust, and arranged marriages. Among Mary’s ladies-in-waiting, Greer (Celina Sinden) has chosen a suitor with social status over Leith (Jonathan Keltz), the kitchen servant-turned-soldier who begged her to marry him. In the meantime, Kenna (Caitlin Stasey) seems to have found happiness in her marriage to Bash. Mary herself must face the fact that her remaining lady-in-waiting, Lola (Anna Popplewell), is the mother of Francis’ illegitimate child. Though Mary does her best to have no animosity towards Lola, the child serves as a constant reminder that Mary has not yet produced an heir of her own.
