THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING Premieres Monday, July 20 at 11 p.m. ET Produced by Funny Or Die, and executive produced by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, the IFC six-part, half-hour miniseries THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING revisits legendary author-turned-director Eric Jonrosh (Will Ferrell), who first introduced television audiences to his storytelling brilliance with the masterful adaptation of his novel The Spoils of Babylon. Written by Jonrosh in a fit of youthful intoxication, THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING is a debaucherous pulp-noir murder mystery set in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles’ jazz scene. It follows Rock Banyon (Michael Kenneth Williams, BOARDWALK EMPIRE) as he becomes the prime suspect in the double murder of his occasional lover Fresno Foxglove (Maya Rudolph, Bridesmaids) who is found dead with another man. Panicked, Rock splits for Mexico where he reunites with his one-time big band singer Delores DeWinter (Kristen Wiig, Skeleton Twins, Bridesmaids). With 72 hours to clear his name or fry in the electric chair, Rock and Delores embark on a dangerous quest for the truth that takes them into an abyss of sex, drugs, betrayal, and of course, jazz. While his world crumbles, Rock's hard-charging manager Alistair St. Barnaby (Haley Joel Osment, THE SPOILS OF BABYLON) pressures him to record a mainstream jazz album. The miniseries also stars: Michael Sheen (MASTERS OF SEX); Kate McKinnon (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE); Molly Shannon (Me & Earl & the Dying Girl); Tim Meadows (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE); Lou Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman); Chris Parnell (30 ROCK); Emily Ratajkowski (Gone Girl); Steve Tom (MAJOR CRIMES): Marc Evan Jackson (BROOKLYN NINE-NINE); Chris Mulkey (Whiplash); Chin Han (MARCO POLO); Ted Levine (THE BRIDGE); Jack Kilmer (Palo Alto); Bérénice Marlohe (Skyfall); and Patty Guggenheim (Casa de mi Padre). THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING is produced by Funny Or Die and executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Matt Piedmont, Andrew Steele, and Nate Young. Steele and Piedmont wrote the miniseries, with Piedmont also directing.
