The Seventh Edition of the Carte Blanche Contest for Creatives Returns until April 12

MONTRÉAL (March 22, 2016) – Astral Out of Home, a division of Bell Media, is proud to announce the launch of the seventh annual Carte Blanche Contest for Creatives. Carte Blanche invites Canadian agency creatives to design an idea for a client of their choice for the chance to win one of three trips to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June, as well as $50,000 in out-of-home media for their client. The contest is open to ad agencies in Québec, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton with winning duos in Québec, Toronto, and the Western markets. “Over the years, the Carte Blanche contest has become highly anticipated for advertising creatives across the country,” said Michael Alexandor, Vice-President, Marketing and Innovation, Bell Media Sales. “Astral Out of Home is proud of how this contest has grown and how it showcases Canadian creativity.” Carte Blanche is supported with an online ad campaign on industry-targeted websites, a social media campaign designed to generate awareness and maximize participation, and an agency tour in multiple markets explaining this year’s contest and showcasing the best examples in out-of-home creativity. carte-blanche-1-en   The Contest Carte Blanche participants must design an out-of-home execution for one of their agency’s clients and then submit it on by April 12. The creative teams will be working without a brief, giving them “carte blanche” to come up with a concept of their choice. The ads must be submitted on specific out-of-home formats in each market, as follows:
  • Vertical billboard in Montréal
  • Transit shelter in Toronto
  • Large-format digital billboard in Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary
There is no entry fee, and participants are not limited in their number of entries.  All submissions will be judged by the creative community and a jury comprised of their peers. New Voting System and Two New Categories Beside the revamped and more user-friendly website, changes this year also include a new voting system where registrants evaluate each submission and decide whether or not it is worthy of making it through to the 2016 shortlist. The 25 entries that receive the most votes will be shortlisted and advance to a jury made up of representatives from each participating agency. Prizes The winning creative duo (Gold Prize) earns a trip to the prestigious Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity along with an Astral Out of Home campaign worth $50,000 for their client. Also new this year: Silver and Bronze Prizes, i.e. a MacBook with Retina display and an iPad Pro, respectively. Québec winners will be announced May 26 at the Arsenal during the closing day of the C2MTL conference in Montréal. Toronto and Western Canada winners will be announced May 11 and 12, respectively.
