After struggling to make up time after the Face Off, volunteers Martina and Phil were elimination in tonight’s episode of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA: HEROES EDITION. Sadly, the siblings were unable to earn a spot in the final leg and became the seventh team eliminated at the Pit Stop in Fredericton, N.B. With the final three teams remaining in the competition, THE AMAZING RACE CANADA returns on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. MT on CTV, CTV.ca, and CTV GO.
“We made it pretty far,” said Phil to Host Jon Montgomery at the Pit Stop. “If you want to go fast you go alone, but if you want to go far, you go together. Before we began this race I don’t think Martina had a lot of self-confidence, but when you’re put in a position where you have to do something to survive in this race, she stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park over and over again.”
“A lot farther than I had thought,” Martina added. “I was just hoping to get to leg three to appease him. I’m so proud of my brother, he worked so hard and he pushed me to become a better person. I’m so thankful for this. I’ve done things that I never thought I’d ever do in my whole lifetime. I realize now that I can do anything with my family by my side. I love you Phil, you’re the best.”

In tonight’s episode of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA, the remaining four teams flew from Mexico City to Fredericton, N.B. Once they touched down, racers made their way to Officer’s Square in the historic Garrison District. Here, teams’ powers of observation were put to the test as they watched two seemingly identical Royal Canadian Regime iconic changing of the guard ceremonies and had to spot the one difference.
Teams then proceeded to Canadian Forces Base Gagetown, the second largest military base in the country, where they encountered a Detour, and had to choose “Fit” or “Fly”. In “Fit,” teams had to take a race version of the military’s annual force fitness exam and correctly perform a set of four physically demanding exercises. Only one racer could complete the set of exercises at any given time, and both racers had to complete it in a combined time of 18 minutes. In “Fly,” teams had to climb aboard the state of the art griffin helicopter full motion flight simulator, and after a brief demonstration, take off in a flight over Montreal. Armed with a map, they had 5 minutes to locate the Bell Centre and land on its roof. Teams had to choose wisely as this was a limited stations Detour and there were only two spots available at both. Dylan and Kwame, Courtney and Adam, and Taylor and Courtney chose “Fit,” but too many teams were there so Taylor and Courtney switched to “Fly”. After struggling at the “Fit” Detour, Courtney and Adam switched to “Fly”. Martina and Phil were the only team to choose “Fly” as their first choice.
After completing the Detour, teams made their way to Lady Beaverbrook Gymnasium on the University of New Brunswick campus. In this final Face Off, teams had to compete head-to-head in a 15 minute, half-court game of 3-on-3 wheelchair basketball. The team with the most points at the end of each game won the Face Off, and the last team, Martina and Phil, had to wait out a pre-determined penalty before they could keep on racing.
Following the Face Off, teams made their way to the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, a provincial gallery in downtown Fredericton, and home to a collection of work by Canadian Indigenous artists. Here, racers had to find the Maliseet First Nations elder and answer the questions about five pieces of culturally significant Wolastoq artwork. Taylor, Kwame, Adam, and Martina corresponded all of the elder’s questions to the correct paintings in Wolastoqey and received their next clue. From the Roadblock, all teams searched the city to locate Government House; the home of New Brunswick’s Lieutenant Governor on the banks of the Saint John River, and raced to find host Jon Montgomery at the Pit Stop. Taylor and Courtney arrived first, winning a trip for two to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Martina and Phil are the last team to check in at the Pit Stop and the seventh team eliminated in Season 6 of THE AMAZING RACE CANADA: HEROES EDITION.
