TORONTO (October 14, 2016) – Space gets schooled on all things DOCTOR WHO this month including the North American debut of the highly anticipated BBC spin-off series, CLASS, airing Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET beginning Oct. 22, with the first two episodes airing back-to-back. Created, written, and executive produced by the acclaimed author Patrick Ness (A Monster Calls), and executive produced by Emmy® Award-winning showrunner Steven Moffat and Executive Producer Brian Minchin, this eight-episode, one-hour, sci-fi drama centres around Coal Hill Academy, a fictional school that has been a part of the DOCTOR WHO universe since 1963, the year the iconic series debuted. With a special guest appearance from The Doctor himself in the premiere episode, CLASS follows the day-to-day adventures of the students coping with intrusions from space and time. In CLASS, the students of Coal Hill Academy all have their own secrets and desires. They are facing their own worst fears, navigating a life of friends, parents, school work, sex, sorrow - and possibly the end of existence. The Doctor and his time-travelling have made the walls of space and time stretch thin, and monsters beyond imagination are planning to break through and wreak havoc upon Earth. CLASS stars newcomers Greg Austin (MR. SELFRIDGE) as Charlie, Fady Elsayed (THE ALIENS) as Ram, Sophie Hopkins as April, and Vivian Oparah as Tanya. Katherine Kelly (CORONATION STREET) also stars as Miss Quill, a teacher and powerful new presence at Coal Hill School. In the series premiere “For Tonight We Might Die” (Saturday, Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. ET), it’s a new term at Coal Hill Academy, and students are preparing for their Autumn Prom. But when the school comes under attack from the monstrous Shadow Kin, four alienated students must form an unlikely alliance to defeat them. Assisted by their physics teacher Miss Quill, the students are now charged with a great responsibility by the mysterious alien known as “The Doctor”: to guard against the creatures of nightmare, who want nothing more than to find a way through to Earth and take it for their own. And this incursion is only the beginning. In Episode 2 at 10 p.m. ET, “The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo,” following the tragic events at the Prom, a devastated Ram isolates himself from the other three as he struggles with his new reality. Desperate to hold himself together on the football pitch, when he thinks he witnesses someone getting skinned alive, he’s convinced he’s losing touch with reality. But when Tanya, Charlie, and April are all confronted with the same thing: a horrific, monstrous, skin-peeling dragon, they know that they’re under attack. The gang must pull together to fight against the monster, and try to keep Coal Hill safe. Before CLASS is in session, the Twelfth Time Lord, Peter Capaldi, makes the ultimate house call with the new Space Original Special INNERSPACE PRESENTS: DOCTOR WHO. Premiering at 8 p.m. ET, Space celebrates its most-watched series in front of a highly charged studio audience, as co-hosts Ajay Fry, Morgan Hoffman, and Teddy Wilson chat with Peter Capaldi, showrunner Steven Moffat, Executive Producer Brian Minchin, and Pearl Mackie, in her first television interview as the companion. Throughout the hour-long special, the four Whovians dish on the upcoming annual Christmas Special, spill secrets on the upcoming Season 10, delight fans with exclusive reveals, and discuss how CLASS fits into the iconic franchise.
