TORONTO (October 31, 2014) – It was a haaah-larious premiere for Baaahston’s tight-knit sports-crazed family THE MCCARTHYS, as the series became the most-watched new comedy debut of the season with an initial audience of 1.4 million viewers on CTV, preliminary overnight data from Numeris (BBM Canada) confirms. CTV’s new Comedy Thursdays lineup powered the network to win every hour of primetime last night, led by perennial ratings hit THE BIG BANG THEORY, which returned to its familiar Thursday night timeslot with a season-high initial 3.5 million viewers and ranking #1 last night with total viewers and all key demos. The final season premiere of TWO AND A HALF MEN was #2 Thursday with 1.7 million viewers, while the family comedy THE MILLERS delivered 1.4 million viewers.
Overall, the network’s new Comedy Thursdays lineup (8-10 p.m.) delivered the Top 2 programs of the night with total viewers and Top 5 programs with A18-49 and A25-54, and won every hour of primetime last night.

A closer look at Thursday, according to Numeris (BBM Canada) preliminary data:
- At 9 p.m., the final season premiere of TWO AND A HALF MEN (1.7 million) is up 22% versus last year’s season premiere.
- Ranking #3 for the night among A25-54, THE MCCARTHYS at 8:30 p.m. (1.4 million) nearly doubled the debut audience of BLACK-ISH (702,000; City/ABC) with total viewers, and also led in the key A18-34 (+68%), A18-49 (+64%), and A25-54 (+81%) demos.
- At 10 p.m., HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER delivered 1.45 million viewers, besting timeslot competitor ELEMENTARY (1.39 million viewers; Global/CBS) by double digits with A18-34 (+34%), A18-49 (+35%), and A25-54 (+22%).
